Package Design “SUN” by YOSHIROTTEN
Born in 1983, YOSHIROTTEN is an artist whose work moves fluidly across multiple realms—from fine art to commercial design, digital expression to physicality, and urban youth culture to the natural world. As an art director, he collaborates with a wide range of clients, including musicians in Japan and abroad, major Western luxury brands, contemporary art fairs, and Tokyo’s underground club scene. He is also the founder of the creative studio YAR.
“SUN” is one of YOSHIROTTEN’s most iconic works, embodying his cross-disciplinary practice as an artist and art director active both in Japan and internationally. Created during the pandemic, the series consists of 365 silver suns—one drawn each day for an entire year—each reflecting the colors of their surroundings. Rather than being auto-generated, every “SUN” was individually hand-colored using digital tools, giving each piece a distinct, one-of-a-kind impression. Blending a sci-fi sensibility with a sense of universality, the series captures the ever-changing nature of things and the passing of seasons. Each “SUN” can also be seen as an interface connecting the physical and digital realms, and bridging reality with the world of imagination.
